So how did my ensemble come about?
Well on our train ride back from Slovenia on Monday, October 24 [trying to give you time references as much as possible..], DW asked me if I wanted to go to the St. Gallen Salvation Army store with him that Wednesday. I figured why not go and poke around.
At the time I knew I had this Halloween party that Wednesday night, but I wasn't planning on getting a costume for it.
While there I found two very cute and warm sweaters. And I also found this heinous piece of fabric:
It is a shapeless, red sack. It hits at that most unattractive mid-shin area and just should never have been created.
However, I lived with my sister and her sorority friends long enough to have some costume imagination and I saw a bit of potential.
So I came home. And with the help of every girl's third best friend [after Diamonds and Spanx]:
Gotta love the safety pin
I made what I think was a pretty cute little dress [seriously considering getting it hemmed up and tucked in in the waist when I get home].
I then used more safety pins to pin to strips of white paper across my stomach and my the cross of the Swiss flag.
Wore my thick gray stockings [it was cold that night, no bare legs!!] and a pair of boots, and I was set to go.
The gray stockings are what made, alternatively, the flag pole or the knife.
While I don't have any really great pictures of the final outcome, I will put up some fun ones that I do have!
All in all a very fun night!
