Pre-Slovenian Adventure

Okay so as I mentioned in my last post [the one below this...about Slovenia (you should definitely read that one first!)], we spent Friday afternoon [this is October 21, by the way] in Munich.

By the time we got to Munich and checked into our hostel, it was late afternoon. But we decieded to go ahead and take advantage of the time we did have and go to the Deutsches Museum. It is the world's largest museum of technology and science. Nerdtastic!! By the time we go to museum we only had 30 minutes until it closed. Sad. But because of such, they let us in for free. Happy!!

Woooo nerdy fun times!!

So we go inside and the first thing we see is the boat section. Fun, interesting, but whatever.

But then we come into the flight section. Yeah it was awesome. Super awesome. I spent the whole 35 minutes we had running through all FOUR STORIES of the flight section.

So only a small portion of you actually care about this which is why I won't post all of the 150+ pictures I took. But for those of you who are interested, here you go:

They had these huge displays explaining the works and advancements of each gauge of the standard six pack. This one is for the Turn and Slip Indicator

There was also a display about navigation and an mock up of the Munich Air Traffic Control tower.

And then I got to the Aerodynamics section. And I thought "Oh interesting!" This is what my parents used to do.

And so I'm walking around and looking at the displays and taking pictures, and then I come upon this:
 Whats that you ask?

Well its Ames Research Center. And this picture was taken 10 years before my parents started to work there. And 15 years later this very facility would be graced with my presence!! Yep in the middle of Munich I find a picture of a place that I visited was I was just 6 days old. It was super cool!!

So now some more Munich sights:

Walking along the river. Which was gorgeous with the leaves changing and all.

So there is this place where the river hits some rocks or something and creates this wave and the people of Munich like to surf there. Its really really weird!! And it was super cold that day, so I thought maybe a bit crazy!!

They drop in on the right there and then surf back and forth across, obviously hoping not to break their head open on the concrete barriers on either side!!

Really not very wide at all

And then we had a delicious pizza dinner

With Parmesan and arugula!!

And then went back to the hostel and shaved Daniel's head with the razor we bought at the Euro Shop earlier that afternoon

We also had some about 2 hours in Munich on our way back from Slovenia. Since we didn't really have time to sightsee and had just finished a 6 hour train ride and were looking down the barrel at another 3 hours on a train, we decided to spend most of our time at a beer garden

Not the worst view ever. Could that sky be any prettier?!?!
