When Irish Eyes Are Smiling [Day 1]

As I mentioned in my last post, Daniel L. and I hope to leave his place at 6am [we are now to Tuesday, November 1]. Then we had to take the Underground to Victoria station, where we hopped on the train to Gatwick, where we got on the plane to Cork...fun morning

Happy on the train as we start our journey

Over it by the time we got to the airport...

Once we got to Cork, our only plan was to eventually get a bus to Killarney. As such, we decided that we would just find a cozy pub and stop in for soup and a beer. Instead we found a place that specializes in MILKSHAKES!!!

Obviously on a cold, rainy, autumn day, there is nothing better in the world than a nice milkshake!!

It was super delicious

We did eventually find our pub and get lunch and get to Killarney.

We had just about an hour before it got dark, so we decided to go on a hike to Ross  Castle through the National Park.

A beautiful day for a hike..

Ah yes. 2km. That's helpful...

This is a river we crossed. It was flooded. Little did we know this would be a theme.

Hike on

Wooo Castle fun times

Daniel loves Castle

Really little stairs that led up to a locked door... :-(

There wasn't much to the Castle, but we explored it all

Really pretty scene

That night we hit up the grocery store and made quite the gourmet hostel dinner

Yeah thats scrambled eggs with green peppers, onions, turkey, cheese, and corn [don't ask] with a side of toast...

We also had more corn on the side. Some Tabasco. And Nutella for dessert. A well-rounded meal

That night we hung out with some of the other people staying in our hostel and did a lot of laughing. All in all a pretty decent day full of random-ness.

  1. Love your pics. Jean Margaret went to Ireland for her high school graduation. She was late planning her flight so I had to use my miles for a business class flight and they bumped her up to 1st class. Now that is living right. For myself, it if wasn't a business trip, I wasn't there. Never had any business abroad, but I did get to the Arctic Circle :=)
